You hired your employees for good reason. The fact that they work for you shows that you believe in them to help your company succeed – and we all know that nothing adds to your long-term success like skilled workers.
So why is it that most companies don’t make the effort to train employees beyond basic skills and specific tasks? Many don’t see the need. Others don’t feel that employees have the time. What most employers don’t know is that a consistent plan to expand employee skills yields huge results in productivity over time.
For example, recent efforts by various state governments to support training programs for employees in their states have yielded direct, traceable returns to the state of over five dollars for every one dollar invested in training. The same logic applies at a company level. The more you train, the more efficient and effective your employees will be.
That’s where LearnKey comes in. Our online courses cover a broad range of office skills. Yes, we have basic training in programs like Word and Excel, but we also have a large library of courses in areas like management and leadership training, productivity improvement and compliance courses. These courses go beyond the basic slide show and text file training you’ve seen in the past. These courses offer a tried-and-tested multi-media approach to learning that engages the student. Our learning solutions provide a more effective and enjoyable learning experience – and that adds up to globally competitive company.
You’ve already got the great people. You can make it happen. LearnKey makes it possible.
Computer Literacy – Bridging the Digital Divide
“There is an epidemic; a global threat. It touches everyone; everywhere. And it’s draining resources, shattering lives, and devastating entire communities. What is this epidemic?” These words resounded through a powerful video presentation, delivered by David Saedi, President of Certiport. The video clip continued, “It’s a divide between those individuals, communities and nations with the in demand skills needed to survive in today’s economy, and those who lack the education and means they need to become and remain economically viable. It’s a separation called the digital divide.”
The digital divide affects people, communities, regions, countries, and collectively, the global economy. The stark reality remains that those people who are digitally literate have an extreme economic advantage over those who are not. It’s no surprise that the new jobs being created are increasingly technology based – from manufacturing, to medical to customer service. For those who have not yet developed the skills to perform these jobs and compete in the marketplace, the result is, in many cases, a lower paying job and a lower quality of life.
Bridging the digital divide requires awareness of the problem as a global economic problem. It requires acknowledging that it is possible to improve the economic situation of communities, regions and nations through human advancement. It requires a commitment to improving the situations of those who are at a disadvantage, through education and validation, so they can successfully compete for jobs that require digitally literate applicants.
Validation of this knowledge is critical. Those who validate their skills through industry certifications can provide potential employers solid documentation of their knowledge and skills. Compare that validation to a job applicant who simply lists their skills on a resume, and it’s clear who holds the advantage. “It is critical that the validation is not local. There is a global standard that is accepted around the world; states then adopt those standards when they decide they want to be global players,” remarked Saedi. When we commit to being global players, we can then implement programs throughout organizations and communities that support that goal.
At LearnKey, we are committed to being a global player, providing learning solutions that will help everyone to be global players. Through education, our goal is to improve the situations of people, organizations and nations. And ultimately, we are more motivated than ever to achieve our company goal; to Train the Planet.
